encore X plug & play DSP Sound files and customization of sound profile

The encore X plug & play DSP amplifier sound files have been tuned by Beat-Sonic to the same high standards as Japanese domestic model GR86 and BRZ. We do our best to meet the listening preferences for the majority of the market, but we do understand some owners have different listening preferences.

That said, we do not recommend attempting to shift the sound stage from the front-center of the cabin unless the tuner has advanced DSP tuning skills. It is not a simple process and even a small adjustment to one setting can have a cascade effect to other settings.

Some points to mention:

  1. The dash speakers cannot be separately isolated from the door speakers as they are configured to the same front channels (separated L & R)
  2. The head unit`s basic built-in equalizer functions will not work correctly as they are overridden by the DSP amp. L/R balance will work but not Front/Rear fader.
  3. Output from the rear speakers are intentionally reduced to achieve the front-center sound stage as per the Beat-Sonic tuning standard.

If adjustments would like to be made, then we suggest first using the DSP amp basic settings adjustment. These adjustments can be made by first downloading and installing the DSP controller tool onto a laptop, and then connecting it to the DSP amp while it's connected in the car. Please refer to the manual and use the link to download the software.

After installing and connecting to the laptop, follow these steps:

  1. Click Preset Load slot #1 to display the DSP file settings on the user interface.
  2. From Option drop-down menu, select PC Save and save the DSP file setting (set file) to the PC.
This step will allow you to keep a backup of the original sound file saved on the PC in-case the file on the DSP amp gets overwritten.
  3. Select Preset Save slot #2. This saves a copy of the original sound file in slot#1 into slot #2.
  4. Now select Preset Load #2. This displays the contents of the DSP file in Preset Save slot #2.
So now the original file is stored in Preset Save slot#1 and we have a copy that we can make changes to in Preset Load slot#2.
  5. In the Basic Adjustment window (Section "I" in the attached manual), reduce the Treble Boost by entering -1 (minus 1) as shown below:

  6. Click Preset Save slot #2 to save the change to the DSP memory slot <- do not skip this step !
If there is still too much treble (tinny sound) then repeat step.5 but enter -2 (minus 2), then select Preset Save slot #2.
If still not enough then repeat with -3, but -3dB is a significant reduction and will probably be too much.
  7. When finished making adjustments, close the DSP controller tool by clicking the "X" on the top right of the screen.
The DSP amp will use the sound file that was stored in the most recently selected Preset Load slot prior to when the DSP controller tool was last closed
We highly recommend studying the manual and getting familiar with loading and saving files before attempting to make any changes.
